Today is election day in the USA. We might not hear the full results for a couple of days as the votes count concludes. Today is a historical day for the world.
I casted my vote today
First thing in the morning I went to vote. Our city has an option of “curbside voting” for cases like mine. My pre-teen daughter who has autism does not have school today, and my wife volunteered to be a poll worker. My wife did early voting, and she will be working on a different precinct than the one I voted at. The precinct assigned to me was systematic and very helpful, and my vote has been cast.
I wanted to emphasize my case because like me there are probably countless people in a similar situation. And yes, some people might lose their opportunity to vote because of that. Therefore, I wanted to briefly let you know how the procedure worked. I am not sure if every city and precinct has that option, but they did here in Virginia.
The procedure was as follows.
- I pulled into the polling station, there was a number to call, so I called, and somebody said they were coming right out.
- A couple of poll workers came out to get the identification, they reviewed that I was in the right place. They ensured I had all proper identification, that my name matched, and they then went back to get the ballot.
- A poll worker came out with a ballot, politely ensured I was not running away with it, I made my selections, put them in an envelope, sealed the envelope.
- The poll worker signed for receipt of it and brought my ballot back inside, and that was that.
I’ve voted here in Virginia. Thank you to the State for giving an option for everybody eligible to have a chance to vote. I am very grateful, because this is a historical election, and having my daughter being part of the process (although she was in her own world watching her videos on her tablet with her headphones on) was a great feeling. My decisions were for her – and with her in mind.
Don’t miss this election
If you’re an eligible American citizen voter, don’t miss your chance to vote. I wish I was being hyperbolic when I say that this could very well be the last time you can vote. One candidate says he would be a “Dictator for a day” – and one day is all its needed to F*ck the country up. The other says she will be a President for ALL Americans.
Like it or not, there are only two options for this election. Either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris – any third party has no chance of winning. Therefore, a vote for third party in this case would be a de-facto vote for Trump. Why? Because a lot of the independents or third party are more aligned with Kamala’s doctrines. So even if you don’t like her and want to cast a ballot for a third party, in the end you’re really voting for Trump. If you want to vote for Trump just do so.
I’ve made it clear that although I am doctrinally an Independent, this time voting blue down ballot is the only viable choice for America. Why? Because sadly the incumbent GOP folks in office tend to become acolytes to Trump’s antics. Just look at the legislative voting record. Therefore, the only way to restore the GOP leadership is by voting out the ones who became enablers to Trump’s antics and replace them with actual Republicans who do not have that baggage.
We have seen that time and time again, the Republican slim majority in the House of Representatives have been quite ineffective in helping the American people, but they have been extremely busy investigating and harassing Trump’s perceived political enemies. Don’t take my word for it, the record is public, the problem is that most people don’t bother to look at it. That is why so many actual Republicans are voting these GOP legislators out by voting blue down ballot.
Of course, we won’t know the actual results until later on today at the earliest, but more realistically, it will be a couple of days before we get the final result. It is still too early to know how it is going. The polls opened earlier this morning, and they closed at 7pm. So go vote, don’t miss this opportunity.
This is a short article, and I wanted to emphasize my first point that there are options in many cities to help those who have difficult circumstances, such as was my case. Afterall, most schools are closed today, and some parents won’t be able to have somebody looking after the small kids if they are on their own to go to the ballots. That is why you want to go as early as possible. Usually, the rush hour is around 5pm.

Why did I vote blue?
Short answer, because I don’t want a person who uses childish nicknames as the person running the country. Why? Because if something as simple as acting like a toddler is too hard for a grown man to understand, then there is a lot more he does not understand. Given the choice, I want to vote for a grownup, who is articulated, and does not have north of 100 criminal charges on their record, and who is not a convicted felon. That seems sensible to me.
Also, because I have been assessing the entire GOP leadership voting record for the last four years (in fact longer than that), but the point is that I don’t see them setting the guardrails when needing to put country over party, the votes are partisan and subordinate to Trump. We need a country where the different government powers (Executive, Legislative, Judicial) are separate but equal branches. So far it seems that if Trump wants something done, then his acolytes in Congress and the Supreme Court become a rubber stamp.
I want to give a voice to my daughter. She is still a little girl, but she is also biologically a young woman – and I need to know that the country will respect her agency, and nobody will impose restrictions on her own body and person. Especially if she ever becomes a victim of a degenerate – like it is sadly the case for so many female children out there. She might not understand why I choose for her to have a choice, but she and every other woman will benefit from it.
And finally, because my vote is my choice – a choice I reached based on research. Like it or not, every rally, every interview, every debate, every statement, every social media post, every acolyte soundbite, every piece of correspondence, every unifying or divisive language, every insult in social media, every action – all of it… they are part of the process. A presidential campaign is like a job interview on steroids.
The candidate shows their trustworthiness, loyalty, and character 24/7. Why? Because the President’s job for the United States of America is a 24/7 duty for four years. And if a candidate is struggling to be mature and professional through the campaign, then it is not a bridge too far to ascertain this person will be erratic and volatile when things get hard at the geopolitical level.
And yes, that geopolitical level will be coming sooner than later. In fact, it is already in motion. I don’t need a President who makes excuses for his actions when caught red-handed, I don’t need a President who is divisive and spews personal insults instead of debating on the merits. I want a President who unifies America, but also who understands the reality of the country in an encyclopedic manner. But more importantly who is willing to listen to expert advice, and not think that he alone already knows everything.
I need this President’s team to be able to challenge the top executive objectively. Be able to speak truth to power, which is very different than throwing sand on the gears of progress, for the sake of partisanship. I need to know that the President is not surrounded by “yes men and women” who are going to do mental gymnastics to defend the indefensible – especially when it is clear gaslighting.
For that and many other reasons is why a lot of Independents and Republicans are voting blue down ballot. You still have until 7pm before the polls close. Go there early. Make your voice heard, your vote is secret and a huge responsibility. Your future and ours is literally in your hands. Vote Wisely America! HLC
