Trump’s interview with NBC’s Meet the Press should be an eye-opening experience for anybody who lives in reality. Trump’s own words will come to haunt him.
A worrisome interview
In case you were stuck under a rock and missed Trump’s first interview with the “Meet the Press” – I’ll be talking about several highlights that many are talking about, but not quite understanding the larger story behind it. And no, it will not make you like Trump any better. But that is irrelevant, because like it or not, we are all stuck with him.
For that reason, you need to understand what he is saying, what is the subtext, and what are the many areas he was confused. In case you have not watched the entire interview, here is the link

You can either watch it first or continue reading this article. I suggest you reading this first, and then realize how Trump uses misdirection, and other Gish galloping non-sequiturs to try to weasel his way out of the question’s merit. I am not happy with NBC’s lack of proper follow up on many of the questions. That is irresponsible.
Also, a lot of the questions they asked were softballs, and the framing gives Trump a way to weasel his way out. I understand that they don’t want to “lose access” – but regardless Trump still took the opportunity to criticize and demean NBC and any other left-leaning outlets. I’ve spoken before about the rationale for the mainstream media on how they conduct business. I don’t agree with it, but it’s not like I can do much against it.
Trump lied to MAGA repeatedly
The mainstream media has to be objective on when to push Trump. He is not making decisions that are in line with America’s best interest, and even if he is too dumb to realize it, his “policies” – which is a euphemism for his incoherent ramblings, are actually extremely convenient to openly adversarial regimes. We are past the point of subtleties. And yes, if Kamala has done the same, my observations would be congruent.
Trump’s campaign promises said he was going to lower the prices to all Americans. When asked if he can guarantee the tariffs can do so, he says he cannot guarantee that. So, WTF America, you voted for this? He has no actual strategy, but he did double down on the tariffs, saying that he knows more about that than anybody else on the world. I’m sure that’s why he has never gone bankrupt on any venture, to include two casinos, huh? Yes, that was sarcasm.
Of course, many Nobel Prize winners have said that tariffs are going to destroy our economy, and he was even called out on the last time he tried it, and it did not work. Trump did some mental gymnastics and doubled down. So, if you forget anything else from this article, remember that HE IS MAKING THIS DECISION, so even though experts are warning about it, if it goes down in flames, IT WAS HIS DECISION. MAGA, I’m talking to you, YOU voted for THIS!
Trump also double down on his picks, despite the many controversies surrounding them. The interviewer failed to truly push these concerns. I would have asked: “Have you realized that your policies and picks are extremely convenient to adversarial nations that want to destroy the USA?” Of course, the press will not have the guts to ask that, because they are either scared, or they are complicit, even if unwittingly.
When it came to immigration, Trump is perfectly fine with separating families, although he said he “does not want to separate them” – and his solution is to deport both legal and undocumented families. Also, he tip-toed when came to stripping legal citizenship to Americans who were born here. That is despite the fact he conceded they are likely been here for decades.
He went on to say that he “will work with the Democrats” to find a solution, because he seems to acknowledge some of them have created good business. Surprise-surprise some of his closest acolytes, to include Musk himself fall into that category. So, it is important that the press and the Dems are paying attention to these words and use them against him. We KNOW he will find loopholes, to deny, or skew the truth… but then you have to hit him on incompetence or senility.
Of course, Trump doubled down on prosecuting his political opponents. He claims he “won’t” direct his people to prosecute them, but the subtext shows that he is expecting them to do so in order to please him. Bottomline, you can expect litigation against his enemies list to start soon. He says that “Biden was prosecuting him” – and that is false. Trump’s 2016 platform ran on “law and order” – but he broke the law. Therefore, it is HIS OWN policy to hold everybody accountable equally under the law.
Of course, we know he is very fluid when things are convenient to him. For example, he disavowed Project 2025, and said he did not read it, and he was against most of it, and suddenly now he is ok with most of it. And he said that he didn’t read it (yes again) because he did not want people to say that he read it and knew what it was. So, get this straight, he advocates for it now – even though he disagrees with a lot of it, but he has not even read it to know if he disagrees with the language, or with what somebody told him it was on this document? Make it make sense.

As expected, Trump doubled down on January 6th, and further went on to say that Nancy Pelosi, who was the Speaker of the House at the time refused to have the National Guard to come to intervene as Capitol Hill was being overtaken by violent Trump supporters. This is a demonstrably false claim, and he should know better, yet the NBC interviewer did not push him on that. For the Record, the Speaker of the House has no role tasking the Armed Forces, only the President could have done so. Trump refused to do so. But he could have, if he wanted to. He didn’t.
The questions moved towards his cabinet picks, starting with Tulsi Gabbard, who Trump’s pick for Director of National Intelligence. This lady has no background on intelligence, which is good in a way, because she repeats Russian State Sponsored talking points VERBATIM – unsurprising she watches RT as her news source. I cannot begin to tell how myopic and extremely dangerous this is for the USA. It is GREAT news for Russia though.
By the way, Tulsi did meet with Assaad, the disgraced dictator from Syria who fled to Russia just a couple of days ago. Russia has a lot of military naval and air forces in that country. And it was there supposedly to “fight terrorism” – when in reality they also wanted to have a port in the Mediterranean. So now you know, apparently Trump’s choice either does not understand this, or she is supportive of it. Neither choice is good for an intelligence professional, let alone the top echelon.
Trump was also asked about RFK who is an antivax, and Trump doubled down on the conspiracy theory that vaccines cause autism. Trump went on to say that there is a lot more autism now than before. So, he is wrong as usual, as a middle-aged autistic person me, who happened to find out that late on life – autism has existed for a very long time, people were not just good at identify it. However, these conspiracy theories we know where they started, in countries that are adversarial to the USA to make us dumber and weaker.
When Trump was asked about Elon Musk acting as though HE is the president, Trump deflected. No surprise there, because he used Musk’s fortune and artificial tech influence to get where he is. I am sure Trump can’t stand Musk, like most people who think he is not just awkward but a very insecure person. And Trump previously have alluded about how annoying he is, by saying he is always hanging around him. Musk bought his election placement and access.
Trump was also asked about Musk and Ramaswami running that fake agency DOGE which stands for Department of Government Efficiency. Understand, this does not exist, but Trump is making it come to existence AND have THIS be the regulatory agency to control ALL other government agencies! Two unelected bureaucrats-wanna-be, who happen to be loyalists to Trump, and have conflicts of interests will run this fake agency. And what is the GOP Congress saying about it. NOTHING!
Although these two people running an agency about efficiency… just let that sink in for a second… EVERY OTHER US Agency has only one person in charge, this one has two. They are already running their mouths as putting Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block, and the GOP controlled Congress is going along with it. That is despite that a couple of years ago during the state of the Union, when Biden called them out on the GOP wanting to cut Social Security, they cried foul. Yeah.

When Trump was asked if he would be cutting those programs, she said he wouldn’t. But then again, Trump’s actions do not tend to match what comes out of his mouth. He said he was not going to cut Social Security… I would presume because he might be getting Social Security himself… but he did not say specifically he would not go after Medicare, or any other program, such as the Veteran’s Affairs. There is a reason why some programs are to remain government ran, because private companies want to make money, so if money does not go to the patients, it goes to their shareholders, duh!
Trump was a lot clearer about taking aid away from Ukraine. He said that Europe should spend more. What this dude, I’m talking about Trump, who is supposed to be the most well-versed person on the freaking country fails to remember is that Ukraine also has guarantees from the Budapest Memorandum, when Ukraine was forced to give up their nuclear arsenal, with the guarantee that they would be defended should Russia wanted to invade them in the future.
In case you didn’t know, Ukraine was the largest Soviet Republic on Europe, and when the Soviet Union collapsed, Ukraine had the 3rd largest arsenal of nukes in the world. Russia took those nukes and armament, and Russia have even used a lot of that warfare material to fight Ukraine. How the F*ck a US President don’t know this very fundamental piece of geopolitical history?
As far as the war, Trump took a two-side approach. But failed to say that it was the Russian military who crossed the border into Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Trump also ran on saying he would resolve Ukraine’s war on day one after being elected. It has been 33 days since then. And Trump now conceited he has not talked to Putin yet. But that IS NOT what he said a few days ago, a claim that was refuted by Putin himself. Now Trump is waiting to talk to Putin – likely to hear Putin’s terms.
Trump went out of his way to avoid placing any blame on Putin for this war, or the many horrors Trump himself described. What is likely going to happen, is that Trump will be instrumental in forcing Ukraine to surrender and give all territories to Putin, and Putin will likely continue to Moldova next.
When Trump was asked about the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Trump did not go into specific on Gaza, or how to end the war, but he did defend Netanyahu and his policies. It is also not surprising he would do that, because a lot of the tinder box explosion are consequences of his policies. Most people might not realize that because of the time that elapses, but in geopolitics a lot of issues take time to brew before we see the results of miscalculation. That’s what we are seeing, and if you’re hoping Trump will own up to that, you have not been paying attention.
When Trump was asked about Taiwan and whether he would defend it, he did not specify… but of course he bragged about his relationship with China’s President Xi and went on to say he spoke with him three days ago, but they did talk about Taiwan. Trump’s policy on Taiwan is “hope he [Xi] does not do it.” Which begs the question about how incompetent Trump seems to be.
Following on China, Trump also bragged about being a TikTok user, which by the way is considered a security risk for US Government employees and the US military… but hey. If you are surprised by now, you have to be either very naïve, or willfully ignorant. Trump like this platform, because apparently a lot of people seemed to like his half-baked message. Which in case you have not noticed is causing a lot of MAGA voter regrets. If you are not one of them yet, just wait a little.

Trump Big Lie double down
Perhaps the most disturbing question he failed to answer correctly was: “For the sake of unifying the country would you concede you didn’t not win in 2020?” Trump said “NO.” So, there you have it. And in case you’ve been living under a rock, he is floating loyalty pledges for government employees to accept the lie that he won in 2020. It was demonstrated he didn’t, and of course that also caused a lot of litigation against him. To include his second impeachment. And if the GOP ever grows a spine, we might see a third impeachment. despite the fact Trump now has SCOTUS immunity for any crimes committed while in office. Damn it, America!
Watch this video also so you can understand that the 20,000 mules supposedly documentary expose from DeSouza was actually a farse. Yes, the entire premise of the video that was based on geolocation NOW he admits that the geolocation was not accurate. So, yes, if you were a naïve MAGA who took DeSouza’s movie as a way to believe the big lie that Trump won in 2020, well this also debunks it. Of course, every non-MAGA already knew this.

If you still happen to be so dense as to need more mental gymnastics: When Trump was asked WHY would the Democrats NOT rig the 2024 election if this time they were in control of the government? Trump’s deranged answer was that “it is too big to rig.” That is despite he said it was going to be rigged until the end. So, which one is it? We know the answer, it was a lie, and his lie to try to cover it up does not even need to be a good one, because most of his base are exceedingly naïve, and they will run with that as a satisfactory answer. It is not.
The interviewer did not really push on it, but rather shift gears asking if he feels safe with the Secret Service despite the assassination attempts. Trump says he feels safe, and went on to brag about crowds, and trying to push that as a diss on Biden.
The conversation quickly veered to Melania, and Trump went on a non-defined support she did as First Lady. He just latched at the soft ball thrown by the hostess about “Be Best” which was really an initiative most people did not even know anything about it. And Trump quickly went on to say that his own sons and daughters were supposedly mistreated. And the only compliment he went on to prop is saying that Melania was elegant.
As the interview was coming to an end, Trump said that the interviews were unfair, and that he gets hard questions. Which if you can see this was already a very easy interview. But of course, for him anything that is not kissing his ass is a varsity level interaction. Despite all this, Trump was a wimp as usual, showing how thin-skinned he is. The NBC interviewer went above and beyond to give him soft balls, failed to do poignant follow ups. Kind of what you can expect of corporate media.
The final question pertained to his treatment of non-MAGA. He said he will treat them “the same as MAGA.” He said that he is treating everybody very well. Well, that is not what a lot of MAGA are encountering as they are getting laid off, their grocery bills are skyrocketing, they are losing safeguards to include their medical insurance. So yes, I do believe him he will treat us like the rest of MAGA. And that might include him making us buy useless merch.
Conclusion for now
If you’re a MAGA and you read all the way here, thank you! That means that you’re likely either mad at Trump, or you’re starting to rev against him. If that is your instinct, you’re not crazy. Sadly, for you, yes, those Liberals and RINOs were actually right about him. So, what can you do about it?
Well, this will hurt you some more, but it will help you get even. Trump is subordinate to Putin, then all this insanity and all the mental gymnastics you’ve been doing for such a long time make sense automatically. I know, it sucks, we are all stuck together.
I’ve created a podcast series to help you understand in detail whatever you missed. You’ll make it to the other side
An authoritarian, or authoritarian wanna-be is only as powerful as his followers. YOU have the power to make it better for America. You voted (hopefully) for what you thought was good for America. He lied to you. Hold him accountable. Just like you yapped about Biden, same thing. YOU have that power, so far. Just don’t expect Trump to be polite when you express your disappointment.
I know that this will be hard for you if you’re MAGA to realize and like you many more are having the same epiphany. Just remember that traps are designed to snare you with ease. Trump has a long history of scamming people. But like it or not, you helped elect him. So, the only thing we can do is help him fill those blind spots, and that might need to yell at him if he strays. Because he will stray if you let him. He is doing it already in real time.
This was not meant to be a happy article. None of us who are paying attention are happy about it. But bowing your head and waiting for an unceremonious end is just un-American, so what we can do is paying attention to the battlespace and do what we can. And what we can do is support our Constitution, and the first step is to speak up. Use your First Amendment Right. HLC
