I love this piece Sammy created, it is so colorful and full of life, just like her smile. I know, she’s my kid, but also, I’m a huge fan of her artwork!
Sammy BeeZee – First Stand-alone Acrylic piece for 2021
This morning Sammy was in a very happy mood. Incidentally, I had the opportunity to stay home because I had to be tested for COVID-19 earlier in the morning, and it will take a few days for the results to come back. That means I am essentially confined at home within our household bubble. Fortunately, we are all asymptomatic – so far… Either way we always try to find the silver lining, so we are just glad we are afforded an opportunity to spend time together. I just hope we are COVID free. But that’s another rant.
When I went to visit Sammy in the morning to ensure she was up, the first thing she asked for was “painting” – she has already gotten her bed made and was just waiting for me to come say hello… so we went downstairs and started getting stuff ready for her breakfast. She ate very well, but immediately went to her little art corner and started getting her paints out. First, she put the glowing acrylic to her last piece, and immediately after she grabbed the next canvas.

Sammy started by getting a bunch of paintbrushes and chose an extensive paint palette. She figured it was best to deplete all the almost empty acrylics in her supplies box. She still has a bunch of never-used tubes, but this was a very good way to fully utilize all her old supplies (Dad… a.k.a. me – is happy about that). This time she just went wild, no rules and just had fun. This piece is very bright and vibrant, as opposed to her last piece that was more mysterious and hazier. For whatever reason she did ask repeatedly for fruit pie. Unfortunately, I don’t feel it’s good for me to leave the house until my results arrive, so we might be able to get some fruit pie delivered, with some of the grocery shopping alternatives around in our area… I started craving it too.

Original Artwork Is Not for Sale
Inspiration: Sammy just went for mostly all almost depleted tubes of acrylic into this free-spirited picture. No rules, and free like the wind. Sammy actually changed the orientation of the picture a couple of times throughout this process. She does love her glitter paints, but she put and mixed them only on the final layers. She utilized mostly non-glitter painting for the base, then as she blended the colors, she went for the glitter sparks. She was also exercising more control with the brushes… in other words she stopped pressuring so hard and leaving all the bristles in the actual painting. I don’t think Sammy had a theme per say with this project, she does love the freedom of abstract expression… but as she turned her canvas it in portrait mode, I think I can see that elusive blue dragon’s face almost flying off the right side of the picture. Can you see it too? As with most of Sammy’s pictures, depending on the angles and light, different facets of the painting will come forth.
This piece adorns Sammy's bedroom. HLC
