About Karla Armas
This is Karla
Karla Armas was born in San Francisco de Quito, Republic of Ecuador. The same city where she resides with her three sons. She is a writer, poet, communicator, and the author of her poetry book Pez Amapola.
Karla has a passion for art in general. In her own words, she said she could not live without the music and the movies! Karla has worked in institutions and spaces dedicated to culture.
An Inspiring Story
Karla has performed her poetry at the National Level in the Republic of Ecuador in a number of recitals. Her words have also been featured in collections by contemporary poets and have even been featured poetry magazines from Mexico, and Italy.
Her poetry has also been translated to Italian and was invited to participate at La Lira, which is one of the most important poetry festivals in Ecuador! Lastly she also played a key role with the the International Theater Festival in Miami, Florida.
Expert Communicator
Another of Karla's greatest passions is to assume the role as a producer and with project development in support of other artists.
Throughout here career, Karla has been a judge in numerous poetry contests in educational centers, and the Ministry of Culture in the Republic of Ecuador, as well as other events the international level. While most of her work is in Spanish, her fluency in English gives her an edge on cross-cultural communications.

La Fundación Niños en el Arte (NEA) se enorgullece en anunciar la celebración de su décimo aniversario, marcando una década de compromiso inquebrantable con la educación integral de niños, niñas y adolescentes en comunidades rurales. Desde su inicio, NEA ha impactado positivamente la vida de más de 3500 jóvenes de entre 4 y 17 años, brindándoles herramientas para expandir sus horizontes y alcanzar sus sueños.
Un Enfoque Innovador en la Educación
NEA se distingue por su enfoque pedagógico experimental que parte de la realidad de cada comunidad. A través de la educación artística y deportiva, la fundación fomenta la creatividad, el trabajo en equipo, la comunicación y la resolución de problemas. Este modelo educativo vivencial, que integra a la comunidad y se adapta progresivamente a las necesidades de los estudiantes, ha demostrado ser un motor de cambio para toda una generación.

La labor de NEA se sustenta en los siguientes objetivos clave:
- Educación y Sensibilización a través de las Artes: Ofrecer espacios y herramientas para el desarrollo creativo, fomentando la expresión artística y cultural a través de talleres y programas multidisciplinarios.
- Promoción de Cambios Positivos: Influir en los intereses y aspiraciones de los participantes, motivándolos a perseguir metas y sueños, promoviendo valores como la solidaridad, el respeto y el trabajo en equipo.
- Conservación del Entorno y Patrimonio Natural: Sensibilizar a los jóvenes sobre la importancia de cuidar y preservar su entorno, fomentando la responsabilidad ambiental y la apreciación de la biodiversidad.

The Niños en el Arte Foundation (NEA) is proud to announce the celebration of its tenth anniversary, marking a decade of unwavering commitment to the comprehensive education of children and adolescents in rural communities. Karla's debut book is a collection of inspiring poems that bring introspection, voiced from the author's experiences, beautifully expressed. The book was written on Spanish language. Her next book will be a collaboration with her sister. Karla writes the poems and Diana creates original illustrations.

Karla's debut book Pez Amapola is an introspective ride from the authors point of view through her exquisite poetry. Many of her poems have been published independently and read in several festivals. Karla's first language is Spanish, but she is also fluent in English. She is currently working on her second book along with her sister who is a visual artist. We'll be posting the details when her second book launches!
